HOUSTON (Reuters) - An oil and gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico exploded on Thursday, setting off a blaze and a small oil spill, but the accident does not appear to be as serious as BP's deadly rig explosion  and oil spill in April.

Why does your scholar athlete deserve this recognition?

Heather has achieved All Academic for Big Ten during her college career and has twice been awarded the Outstanding Community Athlete of the year, given to only one in the entire athletic department for tutoring children,volunteering within school and community, and is now interning with and forming a golf program for the Special Olympics. She is always a team player, a driven student, and a kind compassionate adult.

Why does your scholar athlete deserve this recognition?

Michaela has always set goals for herself, but encourages others to join her in accomplishing personal goals for themselves. She has always maintained at least a 3.5 gpa in junior high and high school. She is involved in community projects such as the recipient of the Argosy award, dedicated to serving the community and beautifying urban areas. She is a true leader, she heads the local Keystone Club at the Boys & Girls Club, and peers for impact, which promotes healthy lifestyles, like no drinking or smoking. In the short period that she has been on the earth, she has always given back, but is a great asset to her team mates. Her athletic ability is amazing, she leads her team even as a freshman. The Rufus King freshman girls team had an undefeated season.

Kevon is a leader on and off the court. He is a key player on the basketball team and the leading scorer. He consistently makes honor roll with a 4.0 GPA. Kevon is respectful to teachers and classmates. Our goals at Morse are to be safe, be responsible and be respectful. He takes these goals seriously and helps others to achieve them. I am proud to be his teacher.

Michael works hard on and off the golf course. He plays to an eight handicap and is a member of the Kettle Moraine JV golf team. In school, he is ranked 2nd in his senior class of 351 students. He is also drum major of the KM Marching Band, senior class president, president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and plays lead Alto Saxophone in Kettle Moraine’s top jazz band!

Acacia has been an exemplary student since grade school. She has maintained above a 3.0 this year, while being on Varsity volleyball, and is taking all advanced (IB) classes. She also maintained at or above a 3.0 while running track and playing volleyball last year as a sophomore. Acacia is committed to excellence and being a role model for her siblings as well as her friends.
