White Sox sign Danks to $65 million deal



(Reuters) - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to a five-year, $65 million contract extension with starting pitcher John Danks, the American League team said on Thursday.

Danks, 26, will receive $8 million in 2012 and $14.25 million in each of the next four seasons up until 2016, the White Sox said in a news release.

The left-hander posted an 8-12 record with a 4.33 earned run average and had 135 strikeouts in 27 starts for the White Sox last season.
